Je ne voyais que les horribles blessures ; Lui regardait le sexe !

On venait de visiter un copain blessé dans un horrible accident. Le copain qui m'accompagne me dit : "- t'as vu la bel' bit' à Jean Louis ? "

The coat has been battered, bloodied, destroyed and restored about as often as Cas himself—but it’s an icon of the old days, the old story. Cas trying to figure out how to be an angel in a world where everyone has a different, frightening definition of what that’s supposed to mean. We’re in a new story now. No, we’re finally seeing the old story clearly. He isn’t trying to be an angel, he’s always been trying to be Castiel. He doesn’t need wings to do that, he doesn’t need flashing lights, and he certainly doesn’t need the bloodied trench coat at the bottom of this machine. He’s half-naked. He’s washed off most of the blood but he can’t heal the wounds just like that. This is a moment of rebirth but he still has his scars, good and bad. Stripped bare, which would be a moment of vulnerability except he stripped himself. So much has been taken from him but now he has the power, human power, a token of human currency in his own hand, large in the foreground. We look up at him, see him looming bare and beautiful above us, above the trench coat on so many levels, and realize how fucking powerful he still is. The spn fandom could teach graduate level classes analyzing character development
