Changement de sexe

En décembre 2013, Jenner annonce avoir pris rendez-vous avec un chirurgien pour une chondrolaryngoplastie* Bien que cette chirurgie soit généralement attribuée à un changement de sexe, Jenner a réfuté toute envie de devenir une femme. La chirurgie a eu lieu début 2014.

Le 24 avril 2015, après plusieurs mois de spéculations dans la presse, Bruce Jenner révèle finalement, lors d'une interview exclusive sur la chaîne ABC qu'il se considère comme une femme transgenre et qu'après plusieurs tentatives, il souhaite entamer pour de bon une transition afin d'être enfin en accord avec son identité profonde. Il déclare souhaiter que les gens continuent à s'adresser à lui au masculin jusqu'à ce que le changement soit effectif. Jenner précise par ailleurs être « hétérosexuel », c'est-à-dire toujours attiré par les femmes et non par les hommes, l'identité sexuelle et l'orientation sexuelle étant deux choses différentes.

En mai 2015, Bruce Jenner entame sa transition : le 1^er juin 2015, elle fait la une du magazine Vanity Fair sous sa nouvelle identité féminine, indiquant à cette occasion qu'elle souhaite désormais être appelée Caitlyn^[.

On his journey from Herculean gold medallist to simply being the husband of Kris Jenner - it's not just Bruce's public profile that has seen a dramatic change, but his face too.

Often the subject of ridicule and something he's seemingly been unable to leave alone - Bruce's plastic appearance easily receives more attention that his past glory as an athlete, that once saw him win gold in the decathlon at the 1976 Olympics.

Now, the revelation that the 64-year-old is to have further cosmetic surgery to 'smooth out' his Adam's apple, is just the latest in a long line of vanity projects that have completely transformed his appearance.

So why did Bruce decide to go under the knife? Interestingly, Kim Kardashian once revealed her own account of how her step father began his quest to alter his looks.

Kim, 33, - who herself has been the subject of surgery rumours - revealed Bruce's surgery history in a personal blog she wrote back in 2009.

'Twenty five years ago, Bruce was ill-advised by a doctor to have a partial facelift and a nose job,' Kim wrote.

Adding: 'Unfortunately, the result wasn’t what Bruce had hoped for and for years since then he has been the victim of cruel taunts from the media.'

In May 2009 on an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Bruce underwent further surgery to correct the original botched procedure.

Clearly a cheerleader for the surgery, Kim gushed afterwards: 'The results are amazing! Bruce looks better than ever and he is extremely happy with the result.'

At the time, Bruce explained to Access Hollywood that he 'was just going through a bad time' when he decided in the Eighties cosmetic surgery might be the right solution.

'I had just gone through my second divorce, lost a lot of money. I was in a little dinky house,' he continued.

The star also admitted he kept the latter surgery a secret for some time - and appeared happy with the result.

But perhaps - like many who go under the knife - one procedure just wasn't enough for Bruce, who appears to be unable to leave his face alone.

Worryingly, it isn't just the surgery that has been a factor in his transformation.

Following the split from Kris after 22-years of marriage, Bruce began wearing his hair in a ponytail, in yet another drastic image change from the star.

Bruce's most recent surgery, a laryngeal shave, which TMZ reports Bruce is about to undergo, is a procedure usually for patients who are in the initial stages of gender reassignment.

The former athlete has also received jibes over the years for the excessive amount of eyebrow tweezing, that have reshaped his brows to a more feminine appearance.

Earlier this month, Bruce was mocked for appearing to cross-dress for a trailer of the spoof film The Hungover Games.

Bruce wore lashings of dark green lipstick and a wig, clearly showing he's not afraid to experiment with his appearance.

And Bruce's changing face is clearly a sensitive subject for the star, too.

During the 2012 Olympics, Bruce fell out with talk show host Jimmy Fallon when he poked fun at the plastic procedures he's had done over the years.

In June this year, Bruce was once again quizzed by Jimmy on his talk show about exactly what he has had done.

'I'm not trying to hide anything,' Bruce pledged, adding: 'I am from the Kardashian group. We can take anything.'

But poor Bruce once said in an episode of KUPWTK: 'If you Google my name, the worst plastic surgeries of all time, or whatever it is... They’ve compared me to Michael Jackson.'

And perhaps his latest surgery will once again been documented by the ever-present cameras organized by his estrange wife Kris.
